Learn how you can use Twitter to increase business!

Marketing yourself on Twitter is a GREAT way to get new clients and keep current clients up to date on your specials. If you aren’t marketing yourself on Twitter YOU’RE MISSING OUT!

First go to twitter.com/signup and create a twitter account:

Once your account is created you can Connect Your Twitter Account With StyleSeat.

Twitter allows you to post or “tweet” information that other twitter users can see (similar to Facebook Status Updates).

When you Tweet something, everyone that is “following” you will see it. One of your first goals on twitter should be to get more followers!

How do I get followers?

  • Email your clients and friends your Twitter Handle (@Username) and ask them to “follow” you so they can get updates about the industry, as well as your business.
  • Run a special “twitter deal” that you tweet out so only your followers can see
  • Find your clients, your friends and anyone else that is relevant to your business on Twitter and “follow” them. Lots of times they’ll follow you back, too!
  • Use the “Who to Follow” feature to find relevant users to follow

Make sure you put your StyleSeat URL in your Twitter Bio so clients are just one click away from booking with you. Once you have some followers, twitter is an amazing tool to improve your business!

What should you post?

Use Twitter to direct traffic to your StyleSeat Profile Page

-We provide a default message for you but it’s more effective if you make a more                              personalized message for your clients

  • If you have a cancellation let your clients know you have an opening and post a link to your StyleSeat Profile
  • Promote new specials, new employees, or any other new improvements at your Salon/Spa by tweeting about them.

Be a voice in the beauty industry!

Clients who find your tweets informative are more likely to follow you closely and book with you.

  • Tweet beauty tips for your clients to try out.
  • Retweet (Click HERE for more information on Retweets) articles you found educational that your clients might enjoy.
  • Rather than clicking Retweet, some users like to comment on a tweet and re-post the tweet for context.

Do this by clicking “Reply” then type your message followed by “RT @__ (the original Tweeter’s Handle) and the original message”

Be Professional

  • Twitter can be a fun social tool too! Just remember to keep in mind that your clients will be viewing your Tweets.
  • Be friendly but don’t tweet anything that could reflect poorly on you as a Professional.
How to Phrase your Tweets
  • Tweet using phrases that grab people’s attention and entice them to click!
-“Looking for a haircut?? All first time clients receive $10 off!!” works much better than                      ”New clients get $10 off”
Use Hashtags #
A hashtag is when you put the # symbol in front of a word in a tweet. (For example #Style or #Pedicure). Using popular hashtags is a great way to get your message directly in front of a lot of people.
  • By including relevant hash tags in your tweets, anyone searching for that hashtag will see your tweet, ever if they don’t follow you!
  • If you are tweeting about a haircut, try including #haircut. Generally anyone looking for a haircut on Twitter will search for #haircut first to see everyone posting about haircuts.
  • Pay attention to which hashtags are popular so you can include them in your tweets and get in front of a larger audience than just your followers
  • Click HERE for more information on how hashtags work
If used properly, Twitter is an amazing tool to market your business and keep your clients up to date on you and your business! The best part? Once you add your twitter handle to your StyleSeat page, all your clients can see your stream of tweets instantly!

Photo DO’S and DON’TS!!!

Photos can make our break a client experience and can lead to lost appointments if clients don’t enjoy their first impression. We’ve gathered a few examples of some simple photo “Do’s & Don’ts” to help you create the best possible representation of you and your salon.

DON’TS

Bathroom Shots:

Avoid taking pictures of yourself from your bathroom mirror!

When a client is choosing which professional they want to book with, seeing a picture with a toilet in the background doesn’t say “I’m Professional book with me” so lets keep the photos looking a little more classy!

Sideways Photos:

When you upload a photo, make sure the photo is right side up! Why?

  • Your Profile Photo is the first thing potential new clients will see and sideways pictures don’t give off a Professional first impression.
  • Your clients will make a decision based on the quality of your profile in relation to everyone else’s. If your pics are sideways you won’t be presenting yourself in the best light, and it may make or break your next booked appointment.

Blurry Photos:

Avoid posting pictures that are blurry and hard to see! Your goal is make clients see your talent through photos. If you can’t take the time to upload quality pics, your clients may think you won’t spend quality time on them.

Poorly Cropped Pics:

This is your online portfolio. You are representing yourself through your profile, so make sure the photos you upload don’t cut off your head or another part of your body. *Note: Your profile photo is a SQUARE shape, so if it doesn’t look right the first time, you may have to crop your photo with equal height and width, before uploading. If you need help getting your images to fit, email us at info@styleseat.com

Sometimes your work is amazing, but the photo quality is poor. We want you to fight the urge to “post it anyway”, because if the photo looks bad, it will actually work against you to display it!!

So what should your photos look like?

DO’S

High Quality Images:

Only upload images that are high quality. Clients may choose you based solely on your Profile Picture and/or the work in your gallery. If both look fantastic, chances are they will book with you!

Instagram your Photos:

Give your photos an extra edge and use the Instagram App to add filters and increase the quality of your pictures!

Choose your four cover photos wisely:

You can upload as many gallery pictures as you want but only the first four will be displayed when a client first clicks on your profile. Make sure your first four photos display your best work so EVERYONE that comes to your Profile Page will see them.

Make sure your photos look good small, AND when they’re enlarged.

Clients can click on your photos to get a closer look. Sometimes a picture can look decent small, but not so great when you enlarge it. Be sure that the photos you upload look great even when enlarged!

CLEAR when small…

BLURRY when enlarged…

Make sure they look clear no matter what:

Pictures are worth more than a thousand words, they bring in CLIENTS! Make sure you aren’t bringing your profile down with poor pictures and keep sharing the amazing ones on Facebook and Twitter!

Upload a Profile Pic

Why do I need one?

Your profile pic is a super important part of your StyleSeat profile! It’s the first thing clients see when they’re looking through search results, it’s the pic that represents who you are as a person and a professional, and it’s the first pic that shows up when you share your profile to Facebook. So make sure it’s a good one! Learn more.

Add a profile pic

  • Go to “My profile/Manage Photos”
  • Click on the “click to upload…”  under “My Profile Photo” on the left

A box will pop up prompting you to choose a file from your computer. Click on the “Choose File” button and choose a pic form your computer. Click “Save”.

Now you have a profile pic! To change it, just repeat the above steps.

*note: you can’t delete a profile pic, you can only swap them out.

What’s a URL? What’s my website?

Ya know that bar at the top of your web browser where you type in web addresses? That’s what we call a URL; think of it as a sort of naming or numbering for every single page on the World Wide Web, including your StyleSeat profile page.

StyleSeat lets you choose your URL for your profile page, so clients have an easy and direct way to find you.

From your home page, go to “My Profile”/ “edit profile” / “basic info”.  Just below the “about me” text box, you will see “My StyleSeat Web Site*” followed by “www.styleseat.com/” and another text box.

Enter your name, your nick name or something else relevant to you or your business and is easy to remember. [*Note: make sure it’s short enough to remember and the spelling is easy for clients to search.] Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit “save”.

www.styleseat.com/ whatever you entered in the text box, will now be a direct link to your StyleSeat profile page. (URL’s are not case sensitive, which means if I write “michelle” in all lower-case, and someone types in www.styleseat.com/MICHELLE, they will still land on my page.)

This web address is now your business website. You can share it with clients and friends, and you can print it on your business cards!

Tell us about yourself in the “About Me” Bio!

Hi! Who are you?

Your About Me Bio is your chance to tell your clients a little about yourself. Go to My Profile/Edit Profile/Basic Info to add information about yourself, your educational background, the professional classes you’ve taken, etc.

Make sure you Shine!

Your profile picture and About Me Bio are the first things clients will see on your page so you want to make sure they grab your client’s attention.  Let them know what you love about your work, how you got into it, and a little bit about your specialties and experience.

Check out these excellent Bios:

What can clients see?

Your Bio will default to display 10 lines of text, but clients can click “read more” to expand. Put the things you think are most important at the top, to catch the eye of potential clients. When you’re done click “Save Changes” at the bottom.

Love who you are! We do :)
